I'll huff & I'll puff...

....and I'll give away these 3 little piggys! These brooches are made from gorgeous cotton canvas fabric and are packaged in 100% recycled card (thanks Narelle!). To enter, just leave a comment on this post telling us what your favourite story was as a child. Mum use to read us The Muddle Headed Wombat and the Faraway Tree series. The two characters I remember most are Saucepan Man and Dame Washalot. When ever I walk under a tree I always look up to check that she's not about to empty an load of dirty washing water onto my head!

Winner will be drawn randomly on Mon 30 Nov. Good luck!

I love all of the stories as a child but one I was terrified of was the Trolls under the bridge, I am not even sure what it was called. My brother still teases me about it.

These are so lovely Rosie! Will you have some of these at Handmade Hobart?
My favs were "ping" about a chinese duck and 'The bad baby' about a baby who rides around on an elephant. My Dad used to do great voices.

I loved the Muddle Headed Wombat too, as well as Snugglepot and Cuddlepie by May Gibbs

One of my favourite books was The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl - loved that the crocodile got swung around the elephants head and flung up to the sun where he sizzled like a sausage!! My mum used to read it to my brother and I - much to the horror of my grandparents!

i'm ashamed to admit that my favourite book when i was tiny was a golden book called hiram's red shirt. it had no literary value whatsoever, but i loved it. i also liked ping (about duck abuse) and wombat stew (about cooking up a terrified wombat). clearly, i had issues.

i do like your piggies though :)

These piggy wigs are so totally scrummy, especially the far right one!

I had so many favourite books as a child (what am I talking about! I still do!) Alice in wonderland and through the looking glass were big hits as were previously mentioned the bad baby, all of Roald Dahls and who can forget where the wild things are.

But one of the most memorable was a book called return to Oz. It was the book to go with the movie which I did not realise at the time. So I was incredibly delighted when I finally found out about the movie!
Still love watching/ reading it today :)

The Three Little Pigs-- I love them and would love to sew them onto a sweater for my granddaughter!!I think I am a bit older than the others who have commented and living in the USA may have something to do with the fact that I have not heard of most of the stories listed above. Hey- Jeannette, The troll story may have been the Billy Goats Gruff. My Grandmother told us stories, from memory and I think my favorite was Little Orphan Annie, But I have be blessed with a head full of the bits and pieces I remeber of many stories.

I really liked Roald Dahl especially The Twits. It's about an old married couple that hate each other so much and they come up with very creative ways to play pranks on each other. I think it's also a very good read for adults too!

I loved Graeme Base books, especially "The Eleventh Hour", where Horace the Elephant holds his 11th birthday party and invites his animal friends to play 11 games before the big feast at 11.

I remember reading and looking through this book countless of times! The beautiful illustrations were a huge treat to my little eyes, and i loved the mystery to solve who ate the whole feast before 11 o'clock!

oh cute! I read and re-read a book called the secret island, written by Enid Blyton. 4 children run away to an island when their parents are lost at sea and their neglectful uncle and aunty get to much for them! It ends well as only an Enid Blyton book can!
I also loved Farley goes to the doctor...which was sesame street!

Boy there where so many stories both made up and from books that our dad used to tell us. He had a great one about Pinocchio, whom he said he knew and they used to travel on trains together.
But my favorite one was Krampus, the he was the child stealer. It was a story that came from both sides of my family, Russian and Austrian. If you were bad before Xmas would steal you put you into his sack on his back or spank you with his switch!
I guess this story was to frighten us into behaving.
But I enjoyed that feeling of being frightened.
If I had kids this is one story that I would start telling them from an early age.
