I have not been able to decide on a vintage pattern for my dressmaking class so I have chosen this dress to kick things off. The class goes for 8 weeks so I figure I should have time to complete this one and another dress too. I wear a lot of shirt dresses over jeans and leggings in summer so this dress will bet lots of use. For the fabric I've chosen this summery blue floral print. It is not what I had in my head (I was thinking dots or a gingham-like pattern), but as soon as I saw this print I new it was the one. I don't have a lot of blue in my wardrobe so it will be a nice change.

Cute! Where does the fabric come from? It's lovely.
Hi Rachel, the fabric is from Spotlight. It's a quilting cotton. They had so many nice quilting fabrics today...so hard to buy just one!
This is a lovely dress. I've never made myself any clothes but feel inspired to after seeing this dress and fabric. Did you get this pattern in Spotlight? Good luck with the classes.
Good ole Spotlight. They really come through with the goods sometimes. might have to go see if mine has this fabric - love blue!
Oh I do like this pattern. The fabric is lovely. I always head to the quilting department first for fabric. Looking forward to seeing you in your new dress. I also love tunics or shirt dresses over jeans and leggings. Mega comfy. Have fun with your sewing classes.
Nice choice on the pattern. Trust me, you don't want to try one of those vintage ones for your first attempt. They require a lot of altering due to the corsetry the womenn used to wear underneath. The waist measurements are TINY!
