Well, we have a Winter winner. According to the random number generator that lucky person is Mahani (#18). In answer to the question, what do you like about Winter, Mahani wrote:

"Baking and ugg boots! I have just purchased my first pair of ugg boots and don't know how I lived without them for so long!"
Congratulations Mahani...can you email me with your postal address? Thanks to everyone who entered. I'll be having another giveaway later this week....hint: it's something vintage.

Crochet Craftiness Conundrum

I'm a little addicted to crochet. Having mastered the small granny square I have been making larger squares in the hopes of turning them in cushion covers. So, now I have an ever growing collection of large cushion-sized squares, but I don't know how to proceed.  I need some advice.  Should I crochet a back as well, or is it easier to somehow sew on a fabric back? Do I need a backing on the crocheted front? How do I join the back of the cushion to the front? Can I just stitch the square onto an existing cushion?

Ahhhhh...so many questions. Can you help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If walls could talk...

and they were covered in these brand spanking new Amy Butler wallpapers they would say 'ooohhhhhh' and 'aaahhhhh' all day long. Luckily, walls can't talk. Listening to that all day would be mildly annoying!  Anyone who has been following this blog for a while knows I have a weakness for Amy Butler designs. These wall papers definitely have the Amy Butler magic.  They all come in  number of colour-ways and can be found here

My Creative Space

This week my creative space has revolved the Lepus Arcticus, otherwise known as the Arctic Hare, linen and ink. Here are the results:

With my next market is not until July when I will be heading to Sydney for the Winterland Festival, my mind has been running crazy thinking of all the lovely Wintery-themed things I could make. Rabbits have been on my list of design want to's for sometime and the arctic hare is perfect for this time of year.

Hop on over (excuse the pun) here for more Creative Spaces.

Winter Giveaway!

With Winter well and truly upon us I thought it was time to have a giveaway to warm us all up. To enter simply leave comment on this post sharing with us why you like (or dislike) Winter.

I love Winter. I complain about the cold, but I love it. I love Winter fashion. I love being able to wear my boots every day. And my scarves. I love baking fresh bread and making pumpkin soup on cold, cold days. I love sitting on the sofa all  warm & cosy under a quilt and watching a movie. And I even love the cool fresh air that hits your face when you open the front door in the morning.

The winner will be chose using the random number generator. The prize? A selection of the new Notions Winter 2010 range and a hand screen printed tote bag. This giveaway is open to anyone, from any country. Good luck. Winner will be drawn 9pm Sunday May 30.

Housing Development

My hands don't like to be idle in the evenings but after three evenings of crocheting this week I was feeling like a change so I drew up a little row of houses to print. I've been itching to get stuck into some screen printing.

Hand stenciling is not really my thing, but I am happy with how my little houses turned out. I have printed some tote bags with this design. They will be a very limited edition.  There are only 6 in existence and I'll be keeping one, another has been put aside for my Winter giveaway (stay tuned), so only 4 bags will be listed in my shop

The bags are heavy weight calico have long handles and measure 42cm long, 35 high and 18cm deep. The lovely wide gusset allows for plenty of shopping.

Winterland

I'm off to Sydney again this July to take part in the Carriage Work's Winterland Festival. I will be having a stall on the nights of Thursday 22 and Friday 23 and all day Saturday 24. I will be selling my new Winter range and hopefully some screen printed totes (more in that soon).

Winterland

This July, experience all the magic of a glittering European winter in the heart of Sydney’s inner west.  Come to CarriageWorks for our first ever Winterland festival!
Our beautiful foyer will transform for a winter festival boasting an dazzling indoor ice rink, live music and hot new bands, a design, arts and craft market, fabulous food stalls serving alpine cuisine, dancing, karaoke and activities for everyone to get involved in.
