I'm so excited today. Everything for the {1957} collection is coming along nicely. I had a strategy meeting with a very clever friend on Saturday and I have made a few changes to the collection and I have a meeting at 10 this morning to discuss some final details for some of the new products. There is still some details to work out but i should be able to make the big reveal at the end of the week. In the meantime I can share with you the packaging for {1957}. Thanks to everyone for their input on the font. I'm really pleased with the end result. I think it has just the retro feel that I was aiming for.

Beach House Inspiration
I printed another new design on Saturday. It evolved from an idea I had on Wednesday night while I was staying at the beach. The house we were renting was renovated sea side shack. Many of the original 1950s features still remain and the new owners have added some nice beach & retro features of their own. There are lots of interesting light fittings and as I was sketching some of them on Wednesday I had an idea for a cushion print...a row of retro hanging light fittings. The process of doing a new design is always interesting. As with most of my designs the end product is somewhat different from the original concept. I'll share some photos of the new design later in the week, but for now here are some images of the beach house from which I've been drawing inspiration.

Etsy Crush
I find that my favourite Etsy shops are not just the ones with the cool vintage/handmade products, but they all present their stock with well styles images. It's a well known fact that great images will attract viewers/customers. One of my current Etsy favs does this really well.
Urban Farmgirl describes herself as 'just a girl who dreams of returning to her farmgirl roots. I spend my time running my own little business, trying every day to keep it from running me. There is nothing I love more than a Saturday morning farm auction and sharing my love of all things chippy, weathered and worn. I am happiest with a paintbrush in my hand, giving new life to furniture that has lived one life and is ready to start a new one.'
Urban Farmgirl's shop is so sweet and simple, full of whites with splashes of vintage colour. If you have a spare minute or two you should check it out.

All Washed Up
Hello, I am still at the beach but through the magic of technology I can finally share with you one of my new {1957} tea towel designs. I love vintage aprons (and cake), so it was only natural that a 1950s inspired collection would include an apron.
The design shown here is printed on white cotton/linen, but it will also be available on two other shades of cotton/linen. There are three designs in the tea towel range and will be available to purchase separately or as a set.
I haven't made final decisions on colours yet, but I will definitely be using this aqua. It's so retro. I love it....hmm, now if only I could remember how I mixed it.

Holiday
In the words of Sir Cliff Richard, we're all going on a Summer holiday...well, I am, I don't know about you. I'm heading up the East Coast of Tasmania today for a week of sun, beach and BBQs. Never fear my lovely readers, for while I will be wiling away the hours in a lovely beachy beach house, I have scheduled some colourful posts for the next week so blogger will still be slaving away in the name of Notions. When I get back I should have some exciting new Notions goodies to share with you...so stayed tuned.
