If you are as enamoured with the work of Ray & Charles Eames as I am then I'm sure you'll enjoy this little piece of television history. Enjoy!

treasuring travel

I've been cooking something up for the past week or so-  mini return to Notions. I'm working on a small re-launch. I just couldn't keep away. I'm taking a back to basics approach. I'll share more on this soon, but for now here is a hint about a new Notions Collection- another delightful travel inspired treasury from Etsy.

Making

Although I'm officially 'on leave' from Notions I haven't been able to go cold turkey from crafting and creating and have been dabbling in a few things. One of the projects I've been working on is a collaboration with the lovely Leonie, owner of the maker store in Salamanca and the designer behind the ljstruthers label. the maker has recently launched a new website and blog. I've been writing the blog. It's been lots of work and just as much fun.

This movie is just the first of many exciting projects we have planned.  I'm excited about is using different media and exploring topics that I wouldn't normally touch here on the Notions blog. If you have a moment, pop on over and check out what we've been working on.

The Librarian Collection

I'm excited to announce that Librarian Collection Gift Sets are now available in my Etsy shop. These are something I've been thinking about for a while now and I have finally found enough vintage hard cover books to put some together. Each set has at least one vintage book, one of my black glasses necklaces, a pencil and a library card with hand crafted brown paper envelope- perfect for use as a bookmark or for writing a special little note or a favourite quote on. These are only available for a limited time if you need a gift for the book lover in your life be quick!

Mid-Modern British Style

This renovated 1950s home in Berkshire, England is gorgeous.  I think the owners have done a fabulous job of mixing retro with (new) modern. Follow the link after the last image and some 'before' images that will give you a better understanding of what the owners have achieved.

Treasure Trove

Texas Modern

From Montreal we travel south to Texas to visit another mid-century modern inspired home. I love the driveway of this home- very inviting. Tomorrow we'll be crossing the Atlantic to visit another design masterpiece.

Treasure Trove

Montreal Mid-Century

I love Canada. Vancouver is my kind of city- sea, mountain and shopping. Vancouver Island- the perfect getaway. Jasper- picturesque and serene. The Rocky Mountains- an example of nature at its purest. And Toronto? A shoppers paradise.

I didn't make it to East Coast on my last trip, but it's definitely on my list of places to see. Newfoundland, Price Edward Island and Montreal are all on the agenda. Today I'd like to share with you a snippet of Montreal. A little mid-century city gem. Enjoy.

Styled

As much as I love looking at well styles rooms, I'd love to see some before and after shots- images of what the space photographed likes like in 'real life'. Whenever style/tidy a space in my house it never looks that way for long. Life's daily routines see to that. I have a small house and all of my space needs to be functional and used- not just admired. Nonetheless I keep styling/tidying....a girl can dream, can't she?
