This week I've been making bead necklaces for upcoming Christmas markets. Putting different colour combinations together has become a little addictive.

This new Swedish home style magazine Hemstilat has me wishing that I'd taken Swedish at school. Not that it was actually on offer. Or that I would have been any good at it. After 7 years of French the only things I can say are that the cat is behind the door and ask for a beer. You never know, those two phrases may come in handy one day. Perhaps even at the same time!

Dansk Dreaming
Sometimes I feel like running away and going on a never ending holiday. Scandinavia may be the place for me. I could happily spend time in this Danish apartment. Delightful in Summer and cosy in Winter. Perfect!

beaded
It's been quite here at the Notions blog. I've been battling a yucky virus-y thing-y for the past few weeks and this week it's grip tightened and I spent two whole days in bed. I can't remember that last time I did that. But now I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I think I'm finally on the mend. I'm taking it easy today (read: lying in bed reading magazines) but I thought that I'd upload some images I took last week of some new necklaces that will be making appearances next month at the Christmas Apron Design Market and MARKit @ Fed Square. These are part of my new venture i wish i had a little shop. These necklaces are made from hand made polymer clay beads and hang on either an 80cm or 40cm silver chains. I've been mixing the colours by hand to get the right balance between bright summer neon and softer pastel hues and I'm really happy with the combinations. Each time a look at them I can't help but smile. Maybe I should call them smile necklaces? Nah, too cheesy, even for me. But I have to say, I never had that emotional response from things I made under the Notions label. For me that is further affirmation that I'm on the right path.

wishing
So, today I have some big news to share. Notions is no more. Yep, Notions has been officially retired. She's been put out to pasture. This is not a bad thing. In fact I am very excited about the whole thing. For I have started a brand new business. I am excited to be making new products, to be exploring new avenues and playing with an entirely new colour pallet.
This decision has been a long time coming. I'd been operating under the Notions brand for 4 years. I new something was not quite right earlier this year. I wasn't having fun any more. I tried "closing shop" a few months ago, but I needed to make and so Notions sort of accidentally began again. But you know what? I'm not the person I was 4 years ago. Nor are my interests or aesthetics the same. Notions simply no longer reflects me or my creative desires.
So, without further ado I would like to introduce you to i wish i had a little shop. She's bright and she's bold. She's a little bit flirty. She loves geometric shapes and long walks on the beach (in a pink neon swimsuit, of course.)
I have been busy finalising the new range which will be officially launched at MARKit @ Fed Square in November. However, i wish i had a little shop already has her first fan. You can find a few bits & pieces at Love & Clutter in Hobart (pop in and check out their fabulous new bright yellow floor!)
Do not fear my friends, for I will be continuing this blog as an online journal of my online finds and fascinations, but if you'd like to take a gander at some of my inspirations behind i wish i had a little shop pop on over to her blog and check it out.

Let's Get Personal with Lubna Chowhary
B:: British is... Well, when I was a little girl growing up in Tanzania, I read a book which told me that British was : snow, a warm vest, school dinners and knives and forks. I was rather disappointed not to find any snow when I arrived.
R:: room, my favorite room in our home is... Our library. It was one of the first rooms we completed in the house. Its the room that is closest to our original vision for the house. We dont use it enough.
I:: ideas come from... Whilst on train journeys I like to just look out of the window and think - I always try to get into the quiet carriage. I also like to think in the shower. I have tiled the whole shower in dark watery tones and the sound of the water transports you.
T:: time I need to make for... I would love to sing some of my favourite songs and learn to play an instrument, possibly harmonica or guitar , something portable so I could whip it out when the need arose. .
I:: indulgence, my secret indulgence is... Wimbledon car boot sale on a Saturday morning , most of the things in our house have come from there. Ive had to limit my visits now as our house is full. Its still a pleasure to go and browse. Its not for everyone though.
S:: style means... a statement on a budget.
H:: home is... where I m happy to spend most of my time.
H:: hobby, I always make time for... sewing. I have a huge selection of fabric that I have collected over the years from a variety of places and whenever a special occasion arises, I love to run up a new dress.
O:: outfit, my favorite thing to wear is... My mid blue wool cape. I made the cape and my husband Nick spent hours cross stitching onto it for me. It 's always noticed whenever I wear it and its nice to have a story about it to tell people. Its such a labour of love.
